A good girl’s guide to murder by Holly Jackson

“The case is closed. Five years ago, schoolgirl Andie Bell was murdered by Sal Singh. The police know he did it. Everyone in town knows he did it.

But having grown up in the same small town that was consumed by the murder, Pippa Fitz-Amobi isn’t so sure. When she chooses the case as the topic for her final year project, she starts to uncover secrets that someone in town desperately wants to stay hidden. And if the real killer is still out there, how far will they go to keep Pip from the truth?”

OH MY GOD!!! This book was incredible!!! I have literally been waiting since the book was announced at YALC last year and it definitely did not disappoint!! This is one of the best debuts I have ever read and I cannot wait to read more by Holly. I absolutely love a murder mystery and this was one of the best I have read. There were just so many twists and turns I didn’t see coming and it had me gripped right until the end. I loved the way that it was told with a mixture of story telling and entries from Pip’s project log. It made it so much more intriguing.

I loved the relationship between Pip and her dad and Pip and Ravi. Although it was gripping, there were some quite funny moments in the book which lightened it. I loved getting to know Pip and seeing her unravel the case of Andie Bell. I liked the fact that nothing was as it seemed, particularly with Andie and even when things seemed to be over they weren’t. Everything drew me into this book and I didn’t want to put it down which was why I managed to read it in two days. If you love murder mystery YA then you definitely need to pick this up.
