Mini reviews #1

Hi everyone! So I mentioned in my last post about my unintentional blog break how I wanted to write shorter book reviews but I couldn’t figure out how I was going to do this. However, I have taken a bit of inspiration from the hels project and decided to write more collated posts of reviews and maybe have one or two main reviews of books I have particularly loved. With this in mind here are a few books I actually read in September.

Clean by Juno Dawson – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I was actually pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. I picked this book on a whim as I wanted something different to read and it was cheap on the kindle store but I didn’t really know too much about it. The main thing I loved about it was how honest the book was about addiction, it didn’t romanticize it which was really refreshing. I did actually like Lexi as a character and her whole journey throughout the book. If

Thirteen reasons why by Jay Asher- ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I actually really enjoyed this book. I have been wanting to read it since watching the first series of the netflix series so I ended up borrowing the ebook through the library app. One thing that needs to be said about this book is that it is very different to the TV series. I was actually quite apprehensive about reading it just because the series is quite graphic, particularly Hannah’s suicide. However, the book isn’t as graphic as the TV series and the whole thing plays out a lot differently in the book to how it does in the TV series. We all know that often books are better than film/tv adaptations but I actually feel it kind of did a diservice to the book.

The lost and the found by Cat Clarke – ⭐⭐⭐⭐
I had been wanting to read this book for quite a while but when I eventually read it I had quite mixed thoughts about it. One thing I did think was that although it was intruiging, it was slightly predictable in places and in honesty I thought the story would be slightly different to how it actually was.
That’s all for now! It’s quite short and sweet, I’ve actually been in a bit of a reading slump so haven’t read as much as I would have like in the last couple of months. Have you read any of these books? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments.

Thanks for reading!
