Flawed by Cecelia Ahern

You will be punished…
Celestine North lives a perfect life. She’s a model daughter and sister, she’s well-liked by her classmates and teachers, and she’s dating the impossibly charming Art Crevan.
But then Celestine encounters a situation where she makes an instinctive decision. She breaks a rule and now faces life-changing repercussions. She could be imprisoned. She could be branded. She could be found flawed.

In her breathtaking young adult debut, bestselling author Cecelia Ahern depicts a society where perfection is paramount and flaws lead to punishment. And where one young woman decides to take a stand that could cost her everything.”

Rating: ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

So I have read a book by Cecelia Ahern before now and I love her work but this was her first YA novel so I was really intruiged. I actually really enjoyed it, although I did find it hard to get into initially. The story intrigued me as they live in a very black and white society, although the guild isn’t the official government, unlike other tales where they just live in a particular society with specific rules.

I think the best part of the story is seeing Celestine’s character develop, particularly before she is found flawed and after. I initially found her kind of tedious especially as she lived by the rules of the guild and was a bit of a suck up but when she is branded her whole character changes as you can imagine it would and how that changes her as a person and her belief system. I have yet to read the sequel but I am excited to see where her story leads.

Have you read flawed? Feel free to share your thoughts on the comments.

Thanks for reading!

  1. I haven’t indulged in some good YA fiction in ages, I need to get back into it! I have heard amazing things about Cecelia Ahern’s writing in general that I’m sure this one won’t let me down! It sounds like the main character goes under quite a bit of development and changes into someone a lot more interesting, I love when a novel takes characters on a real journey so this sounds right up my street! Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
