The thread,
It is tied to you,
Pulling you this way and that.
Binding you,
To the chaos it creates.
The thread can be hurtful,
But also your friend.
It clings to your dark corners,
But creates your light.
It’s a part of who you are,
The worst,
And the best.
It could be cut,
But it will never fade.

So I got so much good feedback on my first poem that I knew I had to write more! I don’t know if there is such a thing as too much sharing, I don’t want to bombard people with my poetry. However, this was a kind of off the bat poem that I felt I had to share because words seem to be failing me recently when I try to write a blog post. The idea of this poem came from a book I was reading and the words just kind of came to me. I have been working on another poem but the words haven’t been coming as easy to me as this one did. I am trying to create imagery through my poetry which I kind of feel this one does.

The thing about this poem is that it’s not perfect but it could be something good given the chance. I particularly like the first few lines, more for the kind of rhythm it creates. I feel like it does have more to give but at the same time I kind of like the reserved feeling it has about it. I drafted it a few times but I feel like this version gives a good sense of what it could be even if its not entirely there yet.

How do you feel about this poem?
