My blogging mojo

Hi everyone! So recently I have been seriously lacking on the blogging front. I’m not sure why, I think I’ve been lacking motivation. Also, every time I try to write a post I can’t seem to find the words. I’ve been working on a blog post for probably about the last week and still can’t seem to find the right words that allow me to convey what it is that I want to say.

I’ve been in this position before. I’ve lacked ideas or motivation before and ended up not blogging for months which I find makes it harder to get back into it. I start to see the signs of an unintentional blog break and I don’t want to go down that road. I just recently bought a header I love and I have advertising booked for June and August. I am pretty happy with my blog as a whole, I’m just struggling with creating content.

The post I’ve been working on was kind of about the standards we set ourselves as bloggers and others as bloggers. I feel like we put pressure on ourselves to post immaculate content on certain days a certain number of times a week. I’ve learnt in the past that this can make blogging feel like a chore. I also feel like this pressure comes from other bloggers, particularly the idea of having a strict schedule of when you post. It’s almost creates a sense of shame if we don’t follow a strict schedule we have set out for ourselves. It’s like there’s this expectation that we should all treat our blog as a business but blogging shouldn’t feel this way.

Don’t get me wrong, I totally admire people who do treat their blog like a business and can make money from it and go full time with it. However, there shouldn’t be a right and wrong way to blog. It should be OK for people not to follow a strict schedule or treat it like a business. It should be OK if our blogs are not monetized or self hosted the ‘proper’ way. It should be OK if we don’t spend hours and hours taking the amazing blog photo. I want my blog to be my happy place, something I can have fun with. I want to do more with my blog but I don’t want to put pressure on myself to post consistently. I want to work with other bloggers in some way to make connections within the community.

My plan going forward is to post at least once a week but I won’t have set days as to when I post, it’ll just be a case of posts will go up a couple of times a week regardless of the days. I want to work with more bloggers so if you want to do some collabs or just want a new blogger friend then feel free to hit me up! I’d love to have a bloggers group in which we can all bounce ideas of off each other and help inspire each other.

Hopefully, this post has lifted my writers block as I’ve finally been able to get all of my ideas and thoughts into words. Have you been off your A game in any way? Feel free to share your feelings in the comments.

Thanks for reading!

  1. Love this post, I had a few weeks there where I was lacking all inspiration and had no idea what to write about. I think I’m slowly getting back to normal with it though and I can’t wait to get back into my regular routine again!

  2. I can relate to this post- and share many of your sentiments.
This post was written really well and I know why. You wrote from your heart. You shared something that bothers you. People will always take well to that and bloggers will always find that sort of content the easiest to write- the content that comes from the heart.
As you said, there is no right or wrong way to blog, so you keep doing you!
