Beauty and the beast: Lost in a book by Jennifer Donnelly

“Smart, bookish Belle, a captive in the Beast’s castle, has become accustomed to her new home and has befriended its inhabitants. When she comes upon Nevermore, an enchanted book unlike anything else she has seen in the castle, Belle finds herself pulled into its pages and transported to a world of glamour and intrigue. The adventures Belle has always imagined, the dreams she was forced to give up when she became a prisoner, seem within reach again. The charming and mysterious characters Belle meets within the pages of Nevermore offer her glamorous conversation, a life of dazzling Parisian luxury, and even a reunion she never thought possible. Here Belle can have everything she has ever wished for. But what about her friends in the Beast’s castle? Can Belle trust her new companions inside the pages of Nevermore? Is Nevermore’s world even real? Belle must uncover the truth about the book, before she loses herself in it forever.”

I loved this book! I heard about this book through Ellie Steadman’s weekly blogs and just had to check it out. I’m a self confessed book worm so when someone talks about a book that looks remotely interesting I will check it out to see if it is something I will read and if it does then I will most often buy it. In honesty, these days I read a lot of books based on recommendations from other bloggers and vloggers. Also, this book is a Disney book which I couldn’t resist as I’m also a self confessed Disney fan. I’m also a massive lover of Beauty and the Beast so with all these things combined I just knew I had to buy this book.

The best part of this book is that it’s a combination of the original tale and a new tale. You still have all the original details in the background with the new story taking the forefront. I love that you also see a different side to the characters, there’s a different bond between them all. Also, the new story really draws you in. I was actually slightly worried that it would be aimed at a slightly younger audience with it being Beauty and the Beast but it was still quite appropriate for my age group.

I honestly loved this book and would recommend it if you are a Disney fan, particularly if you love beauty and the beast! Have you read it? Feel free to share your feelings in the comments.

Thanks for reading!
